Public Art Projects

Art for All means ALL people experiencing art as well as making it. We look for opportunities to bring the art made through Art for All into the public sphere where its power to bring joy and a sense of belonging is amplified.

We Shine Brighter Together: Community Quilts

The Community Painted Quilts Project brings together a variety of individuals and groups to create visual images that inspire a sense of belonging to a diverse and caring community, bringing light in dark times. The three quilts completed thus far will be on display in various public locations around West Concord.

The Art for All Painted Quilt was sponsored by Debra's Natural Gourmet, and each square was designed and painted by a different creator from our amazing community of collaborating artists. The Sun Day quilt was commissioned by the organizers of Sun Day, a celebration of renewable energy on September 21st. Dozens of community members have added their words and images of hope and inspiration to it. Thanks to Middlesex Bank and Mass Energize for sponsoring the Sun Day quilt! During Discover West Concord Day, 85 people of all ages drew faces to fill the West Concord Community Quilt. Our thanks to the 34 West Concord businesses who sponsored the quilt. There would be no village without you!

Concord 250 Lantern

For Concord’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the beginning of the American Revolution, Art for All made the 250 Lantern, a 10 foot high piece of public art that symbolizes the lanterns in the steeple of Boston’s North Church, made famous by Longfellow’s poem, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. The Lantern travels throughout Concord and the surrounding communities, bringing its message of hope and inspiration, a light in the darkness to call people together.  For more information or to inquire about having the lantern at your event, write to richardfahlander@gmail.com

Fantastic Flamingos

Art for All, the West Concord Cultural District Committee and Fowler Library hosted Flamingo Bingo during Spring Into West Concord 2025. 27 artists transformed 40 pink, plastic lawn flamingos which were hidden around town in shops and other public spaces. People loved the flamingos so much, over 200 submitted bingo sheets for a prize raffle. We continue to make new flamingos and we bring the flock to brighten up public events. We will flock the flamingos at your special event for a donation to Art for All.

Contact us at hello@artforallconcord.org if interested. A few of these fabulous flamingos are still available for purchase - [support the arts, buy a flamingo!]

The Yard Sign Project

Art for All’s Yard Sign Project takes mass-produced, single-use plastic yard signs and transforms them into unique, hand-made works of art. Each iteration of Repurposed Yard Signs addresses a theme of interest in the larger community and engages a wide array of individuals and groups in producing and displaying the signs.

The focus of the first chapter, Signs of Well-being, was mental health. The second, Signs of Life: Cultivating Life in the Landscape, celebrates our connection with nature, and encourages landscaping practices that support the life of pollinators and other beneficial insects, animals and plants.
